Spring has Sprung:)

Well, now we are almost to spring break!  We survived a winter with no snow days (yet) and we are looking forward to spring break!  I am so excited for the nice weather that we are going to have and it is nice to look forward to a few days away with some friends.  My students are excited for spring break because they get to "do fun stuff all day, sleep in, play with their friends, not have to come to school, not do homework, etc."  The list could go on and on about fun things that they want to do.

I want to encourage all of you to take a little spring break for yourselves.  You know: do fun stuff all day, sleep in, play with friends... It is important for us all to take a break every once in awhile from the craziness of life.

Happy Spring everyone!

It's Christmas Time in the City...

Well, I just posted about Thanksgiving and now here it is, my first post about Christmas!  I love this time of year- great times to show others that we care about them and spread some Christmas cheer.  Yesterday, with my reading groups, we talked about Christmas and some things that we should do this Christmas season.  I asked them what they liked about Christmas and why they thought it was a great time of year.   Several of my kids of course said they love getting visits from Santa, spending time with thier families, and NO SCHOOL!!!!  One of my students brought up the fact that many people don't have money to buy Christmas presents for their familes and this is a good time of year to help those in need!  Out of the mouth of babes... I was so proud of what he said that I didn't even know what to say.  So, I guess I encourage you this Christmas season to remember those that are less fortunate than you and spread the Christmas cheer this year:)  I learned my lesson from a 7 year old...

Merry Christmas everyone!  I hope you enjoy the season of giving and of course, NO SCHOOL:)

Thanksgiving

It is almost Thanksgiving...I can't believe it!  It makes me thinking about things that I am thankful for and I want to share a few of those things with you.
* I am so thankful that I get to come to a job everyday that I love.  Some days are harder than others, but I do really love the students I work with and the people that I work with.  I don't think I could ask for a better job:)
* I am thankful that I have great students to work with.  They all work so hard and they want to do their best.  They are all making great progress and I am so thankful that I got to share that with their parents at conferences.
* I am so thankful that all of my parents showed up for conferences!  Good job parents and thanks for all your hard work in making your child a better learner.
* I am thankful for Thanksgiving break coming up! Thanksgiving is a great time to get to see family and friends that I never see and it is a great introduction to the busy Christmas season.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all:)
